The Open Co-op is a dynamic new concept for the social economic sector. It aims to blend trading software (such as E-Bay), with chat and social software (such as Myspace and Tribe) to create a virtual social economy over the internet. Communities would be able to chat, swap best practise, sell goods, get ratings for trades, have meetings.....the opportunities for such peer-to-peer communication are vast.

Sanford HC has been a going for the past 30 years, providing accommodation to single people. It has been a hub for local artists and musicians who have been allowed to follow their art due to affordable rents. Sanford has enabled many of its members to access the internet and start their own websites, and it aims, in the future, to provide information and minutes to its members/ tenants through its website. Carbon 60 is the major new initiative by Sanford to cut its energy costs and thus carbon emmissions using technology and behaviour changes.
